FAQs for 2010 Emerald City Writers Conference Call for Submissions
1. What are you looking for in a workshop?
ECWC offers a mix of workshops to include craft, promotion and research.
We are also looking for workshops by Subject Matter Experts in fields of technology, law enforcement, or other
detailed professions.
2. What can I do to increase the odds of selection?
We're primarily looking for one hour (50 minutes actually) workshops. However, if you can articulate a
comprehensive two hour workshop, we will absolutely consider it.
If you were a presenter in 2007, 2008 or 2009, we'd love to have you back. However, please submit a different
workshop subject to keep the conference current and fresh.
3. I have a great 90 minute workshop, should I try to cram it all into 50 minutes?
We ask that you scale down the content so it can be comfortably taught and discussed within the 50 minute
timeframe.
4. Is there a speaker fee?
ECWC is designed for speakers to attend the conference - we want to give you maximum exposure with the
book fair, workshop, pre-conference promotion and networking. ECWC provides $100 off the registration fee
for one-hour workshops, and $200 for two-hour workshops. This offer is per workshop not per person, so if you
co-present with another person, the discount will be split equally between the two speakers. Each presenter
must be registered for the conference in order to present a workshop.
5. What is the registration fee for the conference?
GSRWA member - $209 for early bird registration (after July 31: $239)
Non-GSRWA member - $229 for early bird registration (after July 31: $259)
6. What is the target audience of the conference?
ECWC is a regional conference traditionally designed for aspiring authors to mid-list authors. Advanced
workshops are offered to support our growing number of published authors who desire to cultivate their craft to
a higher level. There's so much talent in the Northwest, you will also meet many wonderful bestselling authors
who generously support the conference each year.
