Emerald City Keeper:
The Emerald City Keeper award honors a Pacific
NW author who has written the book voted most likely to be "a
keeper." These are the books that are near and dear to our

Sponsored by the Greater Seattle Chapter of RWA
for unpublished authors. Finalists are judged by the editors. The

Favorite Book of [YEAR] (formerly
Golden Choice):
Sponsored by RWA for published authors.
Using forms found in the Romance Writers' Report (RWR), RWA members nominate
the books they think were the best romances published the previous year.
RWA members then vote for those books that received the most
nominations. The winner is announced at the annual National RWA
Conference. The RWR has more detailed information.
Golden Heart:
Sponsored by RWA for unpublished authors.
Judges the synopsis and beginning of the novel (for a specified total number
of pages) in numerous sub-genre categories. Finalists are judged by
editors. The winners are announced at the annual National RWA
Conference. The RWR has more information.
Lifetime Achievement Award:
Sponsored by RWA. Using forms found in the
Romance Writers' Report (RWR), RWA members nominate the romance writer they
think has contributed the most to the romance industry during their writing
career. RWA members then vote for those finalists who received the most
nominations. The winner is announced at the annual National RWA
Conference. The RWR has more detailed information.
National Reader's Choice:
Sponsored by Oklahoma Romance Writers of America
for published authors. on-writer judges choose the favorite romance
novels for numerous sub-genre categories. The winners are announced at
the annual National RWA Conference.
RITA:
Sponsored by RWA for published authors.
Judges the best written published books in numerous sub-genre
categories. The winners are announced at the annual National RWA
conference.
Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice:
Sponsored by Romantic Times magazine for
published authors. The magazine's reviewers choose the books they think
were the best in numerous sub-genre categories. The winners are
announced at Romantic Times' annual conference.
Other:
Many RWA chapters sponsor contests for
everything from synopses, to first meetings, to first kiss, to the end.
Check the RWR's "Contests and Conferences" column, and write to the
contest coordinators for more information about the contest that interests
you. Contests area great way to get feedback on your work.
